She observed him initially to understand his behaviors and their functions  in order to create an educational plan fit for his unique needs. She understood who he was  as a person and looked beyond the label he was given on his IEP. She dived into his  interests and created a fun, engaging curriculum that kept him wanting more everyday. His  smiles lit up the room and giggles filled the air when she worked with him. She was able to  de-escalate him during his hard days with her calming presence which allowed him to  always feel safe with her.
